Twitter takes precautionary measures
With internet privacy currently a hot topic, Twitter has advised all of its 330 million users to change their passwords. This advice comes as the result of the social media giant discovering a bug in its system.
Because of the glitch, some Twitter passwords were stored before they could be converted into random numbers and letters – rendering them vulnerable to hacking. According to Twitter, no malicious activity has occurred; but it is anxious to reassure users that it’s taking action and erring on the side of caution.
With Facebook under the cosh for its lax security and GDPR about to engulf Europe, Twitter is clearly anxious to avoid any embarrassing pratfalls.
